Chandler gets there revenge on Perry

Chandler Dominates Rival Perry Behind 334-Yard Rushing Explosion

In a highly anticipated 6A showdown on October 10, 2025, the Chandler Wolves traveled to Gilbert and delivered a statement win, overpowering the Perry Pumas 39–17 in a performance built on physicality, balance, and relentless ground pressure. The victory pushed Chandler to 5–1 on the season, while Perry dropped to 3–3.

A Run Game Perry Couldn’t Contain

From the opening quarter, Chandler dictated the tone of the game with a bruising run attack that finished with a season-high 334 rushing yards. The Wolves’ offensive line dominated the trenches, opening wide lanes and controlling the pace from start to finish.

Junior running back Chase Ochoa led the charge, erupting for 160 yards and two touchdowns, repeatedly breaking into the second level and averaging eight yards per carry. Quarterback Will Mencl added a dual-threat spark of his own. While throwing for 181 yards and three touchdowns, Mencl also rushed for 79 yards, posting a career-high on the ground.

That balance — smash-mouth running paired with crisp, efficient passing — kept Perry’s defense on its heels all night.

Momentum Shifts Chandler’s Way Early

The teams traded early scores in a competitive first quarter, but once Chandler settled into their rushing rhythm, the tide turned sharply. Long, methodical drives wore down Perry’s front, and the Wolves began stacking points while chewing up the clock.

Perry flashed signs of life offensively, most notably from Max Wendelschafer, who hauled in 111 receiving yards and a touchdown. But as Chandler continued to extend drives and limit Perry’s possessions, the Pumas were forced into catch-up mode — and never found enough traction to make the game close again.

Why Chandler’s Win Matters

This matchup showed exactly what makes Chandler dangerous in 2025. Their offensive identity is clear: impose the run, force defenses to commit bodies to the box, and punish them with efficient play-action and spacing concepts. It’s a formula that has them firmly in the 6A title conversation.

Their defense also delivered in key moments, tightening in the red zone and limiting big plays after halftime.

What’s Next for Perry

For Perry, the loss highlighted areas that need immediate attention — particularly run fits, tackling discipline, and third-down execution. Offensively, they have playmakers, but sustaining drives against top-tier defenses remains the hurdle.

Still, the Pumas showed flashes, and with better consistency, they remain a threat against anyone on their schedule.
